The research group of Dr. Matthias Otte, Department of Chemistry at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, is looking to fill the position of a
Research Assistant (f/m/d)
(PhD position in Bioinorganic Supramolecular Chemistry)
with 50 % (alternatively: 65 %) of the regular working hours (currently 39,8 hours per week) with a limited contract of at least 3 years. This position should be filled as soon as possible. The salary level follows E 13 TV-L.
We are looking for a highly-motivated candidate to work on cage-based coordination compounds that are intended to mimic the active sites of metal enzymes. The complexes obtained are to be investigated for their suitability for the oxidation of organic substrates. Besides the synthesis and characterization of the compounds, special attention is paid to mechanistic investigations of such oxidations. For this purpose, you will deal with various spectroscopic methods. You will work in a team of highly motivated researchers and develop an improved understanding of how metal enzymes work.
The successful candidate must have a master degree in chemistry (very good results), and good communication skills in German or English (for example IELTS score 7.0 or higher). Furthermore, the candidate should have a significant background in coordination chemistry and organic synthesis. A pro is first experience in small molecule activation, spectroscopic techniques and/or homogenous catalysis.
